The final stages of an education project involve bringing together a wide range of spaces, finishes and facilities before students and staff can move in. At Tonsley Technical College and Flinders University’s Factory of the Future, Thirteen Commercial Cleaning was involved in preparing the newly constructed facility for its next stage of use.
Working alongside Sarah Constructions, our team had more than 35 cleaners on site across the program, carrying out detailed internal and external cleaning throughout the building. The scope extended across classrooms, common areas, offices, amenities, workshops and specialist spaces associated with the advanced manufacturing and technical training facilities.
Glass cleaning was a significant part of the works, including extensive internal glazing and high-level external glass that required specialist access. Teams worked through the building progressively, detailing glazing, frames, surfaces and surrounding areas while other finishing activities were taking place across the site.
The cleaning also covered the workshop and practical learning areas, where the scale and type of spaces differed considerably from the more conventional education areas. Floors, fixtures, fittings and finished surfaces were detailed throughout, with construction dust and residue removed as each area moved towards readiness.
Designed to bring education, industry and advanced manufacturing together at Tonsley Innovation District, the facility will provide students with practical learning environments alongside access to a broader technical and research ecosystem.
The cleaning works formed part of the final preparation of the building, with classrooms, workshops, shared spaces and supporting facilities brought together and prepared for the students, educators and industry partners who will use them.
