From construction site to community facility, the Summit Aquatic Centre in Mount Barker has now reached its final stage, with Thirteen Commercial Cleaning carrying out the cleaning works required to prepare the new facility for use.

Constructed by Kennett, the $51.8 million development forms part of the wider Summit Sport and Recreation precinct and includes a 25-metre, 10-lane competition pool, learn-to-swim and leisure pools, a warm water therapy pool, gym and fitness spaces, change rooms, café, crèche and community areas.

The cleaning works extended across the different environments within the centre, each presenting its own requirements. Large aquatic areas, wet zones, tiled surfaces, glass, change rooms, amenities and fitness spaces all required detailed cleaning following the construction process.

Particular attention was given to removing construction dust, residue and marks from finished surfaces, as well as detailed glass cleaning, floors, fixtures, fittings and other high-use areas. The work also involved cleaning around the pools and associated wet areas, where the presentation of surfaces is especially important before a facility moves into regular public use.

The scale of the centre meant working across a combination of large open spaces and highly detailed areas, with cleaning progressing alongside the final stages of construction and fit-out.

The Summit Aquatic Centre now brings together swimming, fitness, recreation and community facilities under one roof, providing year-round facilities for the growing Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills community.
